Mu Omega Omega Chapter

The ladies of the Mu Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are proud to announce our annual scholarship.   A one-time scholarship in the amount of $1000 awarded to a female student graduating from a high school.  The recipient must meet specific academic requirements and must plan to attend a 4-year College or University in the fall of 2008.  The award must be applied towards tuition, books or other academic supplies. The scholarship coincides with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s program initiatives and was driven by platform number four, which is Economic Advancement through Technology. This platform serves the purpose of working with universities and institutions to ensure students develop exemplary technology access and training.  

I. Eligibility

1.    This scholarship award is available to a female student graduating from high school.
2.    The student must possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale
3.    Must plan to attend a 4-year College or University beginning the fall semester of 2008.

II.    Application form:

An application form should be neatly completed (either typed or printed). If your responses require more space than is provided, please use a separate sheet of paper.  If you use a separate sheet of paper, responses must be typed.  Responses to essay questions must also be typed.

III.       Official transcript:

Please provide an official, sealed , transcript from your high school.
 
IV.    Letter of Recommendation:
Please provide two letters of recommendation. (Cannot be from a family member)
 
V.    Essay question:

Applicants MUST answer essay question No. 1 and choose one additional essay question to answer.

VI.    Deadline: 

The complete application packet must be received by June 30, 2008.  Applicants will be notified by mail of the decision by August 1, 2008.
